A warm welcome to the Chavuma Town Council website, a platform created to give you, our valued and esteemed public the opportunity to interact with us, as well as to ensure that information on services and opportunities available in our district is made available and easily accessible by you the general public.
The Name of the District was derived from the thunderous sound from the water falls on the Zambezi. The Sound which in luvale is called “Kuvuma”. The area came under the control of the Central Government by the 1950 declaration. It is located in the North Western province of Zambia and is the furthest district. It shares its boundaries with Zambezi of the Eastern side, Angola on the Western as well as the Northern.
The District became a gazetted district in 1997 under the Late President Dr. Titus Fredrick Jacob Chiluba during the tenure of Honourable Muloji as Member of Parliament. It was delimitated from Zambezi district. It typically has two distinct parts, the East bank with 8 wards and the west bank with seven wards separated by the Mighty Zambezi River.
